Proposal

The use of drugs that were thought to be safe and marketed as medicine and given to the public but are now known to be harmful. In the 19^th century there was a limit on the way doctors would cure the sick. There was a shortage of medicine and the doctors didn’t possess the large amount of drugs we currently have. With these limitations the drugs that were given to the sick was not necessarily safe to consume.

Research Question

What different types of drugs were marketed to the public in the Chinese and European cultures in the 1800s that were thought to be safe but are now known to be dangerous?

Scope Of the Research

The essay will give an explanation about what unsafe drugs were taken. It gives more insights into the people who are at the risk of becoming even more sick with the medicine. Secondly, the essay will give more insights into the history of unsafe medicine between 1800 and 1900 AD and how it spread to China and the European territory. It will cover the reactions of the Chinese cultures towards the drugs and its unhealthy nature. Also, it will give more insights into the reaction of European cultures towards the drugs and its unhealthy nature. Then, it will compare and contrast the reactions of the Chinese and European cultures towards 19^th century medicine and it’s dangerous effects.

Working Timeline
