Compare and contrast two major areas of curriculum thought, and relate them to your own perception of curriculum practice. This will be based on modules one and two.
Your essay should consider the following:
Introduction/ overview
Discuss the scope and treatment that will be undertaken
Include definitions of key terms including curriculum, curriculum theory theorizing conceptions
Main Body;
Present a critical examination of the literature in both areas of curriculum thought I theorzing conceptions you have selected. This should focus on paticular conceptions and re-conception of the curriculum that you can contrast and compare.
Here you need to consider any philosophy that underpin and inform each area of curriculum thought theorizing together with the theory’s view of schooling, learning and teaching etc.
Covering the central writers and others who interpret, expand on or criticize their ideas.
Provide a discussion of the differences and similarities in each area of thought and the possible reasons for them
Provide an appraisal of the strengths and weaknesses inherent in their arguments
Conclusion;
Your conclusion on how you would incorporate these ideas, or parts of them into your curriculum practice.
Discourse cohesiveness and internal logic: use of appropriate referencing.
