You are the supervisor in an office of 25 employees. Jim, one of your employees, approaches you for permission to date Mary, a fellow employee.

Your response should address the following:

• As the supervisor, how would you handle this situation?
• What resources did you use to guide your decision?
• What does your code of ethics and professional standards for your profession say about maintaining personal and professional boundaries in the workplace?
• What do your state’s laws say about maintaining personal and professional boundaries in the workplace?
• Is it possible to NOT have dual relationships between administrators and employees? For example, in a small rural town, an administrator and employees may have children at the same school, may attend the same church, and the like.
