Compare what you have learned from this week’s reading to patterns within your own family of origin-the family into which you were born.

We know that our families of origin impact our current relationships.  With this in mind,  think about and address the following questions:

1. Discuss the strengths in your family of origin that you would like to bring into your marriage or other intimate relationships, or that you have already brought into these relationships?
2. Discuss the problematic issues in your family of origin, while thinking about ways you can avoid bringing them into your marriage or other intimate relationships.
3. Discuss how the textbook or other sources address the strengths or problematic issues you describe in your family.

Examples of areas you could discuss are:

• How do members of your family respond to stress?
• What are patterns of communication like?
• How was time spent (ex. together, apart)?
• How are conflicts approached?
• What resources are available or utilized (for example: counseling, community resources, relationships within the community or family, faith perspective)?

Instructions:

• Paper length is approximately 700-750 words
• Use APA style, including a cover page and reference page.
• Introductory Paragraph, setting forth a clear statement of your assignment.
• Conclusion, a concise statement that reaffirms your assignment.
• Cite a minimum of 2 sources (APA). This can include the textbook, or other outside materials.
